When we talk about a winter vacation, the best place to visit is none other than Manali!

Nestling in the mountain, Manali is the best hill station one could offer in Himachal Pradesh. This enchanting place nestles in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh near the northern end of the Kullu Valley. This place is situated at an altitude of 2050 meters. Which is about 270 km from north of the state capital Shimla.

It is the best place for backpackers/tourists who seek the great Himalayan range. This place due to high altitude, is surrounded by high mountains, forests, chillin’ springs and yeah not to forget sloppy peaks.

In winter season this place gets covered with the snow. Watching the snow-capped mountains is bliss. You can enjoy the snowfall in this season.

Places to visit in Manali

Solang Valley – This valley is also well known as Snow Point. It is quiet and is best approached by road. This place is around 14 km from Manali and is famous for its 300m ski lifts. This picturesque spot offers splendid views of glaciers and mountains covered with snow caps.

Other attractions include paragliding, snowboarding, skiing etc.

Old Manali –This place is at a distance of 3km from Manali which is, famous for its orchards and old guesthouses. This place is Calm and serene. Beas River is another wonderful experience.

Some amazing places to visit in old Manali are-ruined fort by the name of Manaligarh, the Manu Maharishi Temple, dedicated to sage Manu.

The peace of old Manali is disturbed by twittering birds and sounds of gushing waters of the kullu river.

Rohtang Pass – This beautiful pass is at an altitude of 3979m above sea level.This tourist site is even cool on summer days. This pass provides a wide panoramic view of mountains rising above clouds, which is just mind blowing experience.

Near Rohtang pass is a small lake called Dassaur Lake. It is during winter that the road of Rothang Pass is closed due to heavy snowfall.

This beautiful and popular spot in Manali has over 25 lakh visitors every year.

Naggar Castle – This is basically a temple of Tibetan Buddhist lineage. This place is Located at Naggar Town. With breath-taking forested hills, the Naggar Castle is a must place to visit. This castle was once the residence of Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu. The castell’s architecture boasts of European and Himalayan architecture.

Manu Temple – This temple is visited by countless devotees every year. It is said that it offers peace of mind.According to legends it is said that Manu saved the holy Vedas and the seven sages from the great flood and then made Manali as his home. A visit to this ancient temple will definitely rejuvenate your mind and soul.

Vashist Hot Water Springs: This place is around 3km from Manali. Across the famous Beas River is a small village with natural sulphur springs called vashist.

The bathhouses at this area offer Turkish-style showers for the convenience of the visitors who come here to benefit from the medicinal properties. Separate tanks for men and women are provided in the temple. This baths are open baths and offers little or no privacy for women except separated areas for bathing.
