Kota – the City Along Chambal
Kota, also known as the land of Hadas is situated along the bank of river Chambal in the southeast region of Rajasthan. - Haveli of Devtaji
Among the various beautiful forts, palaces and temples, Haveli of Devtaji is the perfect example of marvelous architectural beauty. It is a palace of historical significance. The remnants of the ancient Rajput tradition can be witnessed here. The haveli comprises of a large number of room beautifully decorated with paintings and splendid murals. The display of the frescoes gives a glimpse of the glory of brave Rajput rulers.
- Chambal Garden
Chambal garden is located at the banks of river Chambal, is seen as a lovely picnic spot in the city of Kota. A beautiful pond in between the garden with delicate greenery surrounding it makes it a must visit place. Along with peace this place provides a bit of adventure too. In winter months, the major attraction is the crocodiles in the pond that attracts a large number of tourists and adventurous picnickers.
- Maharao Madho Singh Museum
Maharao madho singh museum is considered as one the best museum of Rajasthan. This museum is located in an old glorious palace preserving the rich cultural and architectural heritage of the city of Kota. The museum showcases a large number of exquisite collections of sculptures, paintings, frescoes of ancient Rajput kingdom. It also has an armoury section which always becomes a site of attraction for the visitors.
- Seven Wonders Park
If you want to have a selfie or a photograph of yours standing beside the Seven Wonders of the World then this is a place just for you. This newly opened park is a premier attraction of Kota. It has replicas of The Seven Wonders of The World including Taj Mahal, Pyramids of Egypt, Eiffel Tower, Brazil’s Christ the Redeemer, Statue of Liberty and Rome’s Colosseum. This place looks more beautiful in the night with good decorated lights and the serene Lake in the background.
- Kishore Sagar and Jag Mandir
Kishore Sagar is an artificially constructed scenic lake located by the side of Brij Vilas museum. Just in the middle of this breath-taking lake the palace of Jag Mandir is located. This red sand stone built palace was made by the Maharani of this place in 1740. Boating in the lake is one of the major attractions here. The place looks beautiful in the day light when the red stone structure becomes more graceful amidst the azure water of the Kishore Sagar.
The Big Question- What to Eat?
Apart from the Rajasthani and Marwari cuisines ranging from dal bati churma to traditional Rajasthani thali, one thing for which Kota is famous for is the kachori. Of the three Ks- Kota sarees, Kota stone and the ultimate Kachori, this mouth-watering snack tops the list. Kachoris from the shops in Rampura, Nayapura and Chhawani chauraha are the famous ones. Shops of poha and jalebi are omnipresent in Kota as it is the most preferable breakfast for the lakhs of students residing here. Amar Punjabi Dhaba, Maheshwari Restaurant, Eatoos and Punjabi mess are some of the best food spots in Kota.
