Reach Rishikesh via Flight
Rishikesh doesn’t have an airport of its own. The nearest airport in Rishikesh is the Dehradun Jolly Grant airport, at a distance of about 35 kilometers. From Dehradun airport, you can hire a cab to reach Rishikesh.
Alternatively, you can land at Delhi airport and book an intercity cab towards Rishikesh. For the international travelers, opting to reach Rishikesh from Delhi airport is more suitable.
Reach Rishikesh via Train
The nearest railway station in Rishikesh is the Haridwar railway station, which is about 25 kilometers far. From Haridwar station, you can hire a private cab or local taxi to reach Rishikesh.
Haridwar railway station is well connected with the major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Varanasi and there are frequent trains as well.
Reach Rishikesh via Road
Rishikesh is connected to major cities of India via National Highway 58 (NH 58). The road is in good condition, however, you may encounter rut in a short stretch enroute.
If you prefer traveling to Rishikesh from Haridwar via bus, it should take around 45 minutes plus the waiting time for buses departure. Self-driving or riding in a private cab from Haridwar to Rishikesh should take around 30 minutes or less.
Even from cities like Lucknow, Delhi, Vrindavan, etc. you can prefer road travel, as the mountain terrain presents an exciting journey.
