Continuing to our topic, If you feel this is the only reason… then you are definitely wrong. There are numerous exotic places for you to look forward to!
Goa, with its beautiful Portuguese influence is situated in a small corner in the West of India. It is more famous for its churches which are imbued from Portuguese architecture. St.Xavier’s Cathedral is one of the well know churches here among the total of 60 churches that are spread across Goa.The ‘Se De Santa Catarina’ Cathedral is a must visit which is famous for its golden bells and painting.
Not religious? There are wildlife sanctuaries which are open all year around. The Mahadei Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the few sanctuaries which boasts to have Bengal tigers .It is situated in North Goa near Valpoi.
If you love trekking then you must visit the Dudh sagar falls near Mollem National Park. It’s height is massive 301 meters and as the name describes- it looks like milk plummeting from heaven! Just watching it relaxes your mind. It offers trekking opportunities but don’t forget to take some medicines and plenty of water with you as you cannot find any along the way.
There is an unusual festival named the ‘Sao Joao Festival’ which takes place in monsoon. In this festivals bottles of FENI- local wine is retrieved by men by jumping into the well (Yeah you heard me right).
There is more to Goa than just ‘party’ and ‘beaches’. The ‘IGITUN CHALNE’ is an extravagant festival where people walk through fire. It is also termed as ‘Fire Walking Festival’. Legends say that this is performed to show trust and faith in their local goddess-LAHRAI. This festival takes place at Sirgaon temple in Bicholim district.
Last but certainly not the least, “Sunburn festival” where ‘Music Is Religion’. It is a festival of music and dance where you can release your stress, anxiety, anger, anguish etc. by dancing and partying away! You can experience top class adrenaline gushing performances by internationally recognized artists, This festival starts from 27th of December and ends on the 30th of December (2016). This festival houses tons of famous DJ’s ranging from Hardwell to the legendary duo- Dmitri Vegas and Like Mike!
