Reach Srinagar by air
Srinagar has a domestic airport connected with major cities of India. From Sheikh ul Alam Airport of Srinagar, you can book a taxi to reach your stay.
Alternatively, you can land at Delhi international airport and cover rest of the distance by riding a private cab. This is best for international travelers.
Reach Srinagar by train
There are no railway stations operating in Srinagar. The nearest railway station is at Jammu, which is about 290 kilometers far. From this point, you can grab a cab to reach Srinagar. However, the Kashmir Railway project for a direct railway line from Jammu to Baramulla is currently underway.
Reach Srinagar by road
The road to Srinagar is famous for its captivating views and there is a thunder traversing this lane because the road is close to the LOC (Line of Control).
You will have to check the road routes open during the particular time of your visit. For example, between May and November, Srinagar-Leh highway is open and from April to June, Manali-Leh highway is preferred.
You can get deluxe buses from Jammu, Delhi, and Chandigarh cities. You can also hire a cab in Srinagar for your entire itinerary.
Please note, you may require a special permit to visit certain areas in Srinagar, which are patrolled by the army.
Advice to the travelers
Mobile phone connectivity could be a problem in certain areas of Srinagar. What works best here is the BSNL and Airtel network. On your Srinagar trip, please ensure having at least one well-networked sim card in the zone.
