It is one of the oldest mosques in India built in 1192 CE during the reign of Muhammad Ghori. The name of the mosque i.e. “Adhai Din ka Jhonpra” means the shed of two and a half day.

Some people also believe that this mosque was built in two and a half days and hence the name.
