jaipur1

Ideal time frame for the visit is from 3 to 5 days. This place offers many cultural villages and Forts. So it’s a must go-to destination with your family! What’s so special about this place?

Here is a tentative itinerary to give you an idea;

Day 1:

jaipur2

Starting from day one, you can start visiting forts, one per day. After having  breakfast at your hotel, head straight towards Amer fort.

  1. Amer Palace: The aesthetic ambiance of the palace is seen within its walls. This fort is constructed of red sandstone and marble. This Fort is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-e-Aam, or “Hall of Public Audience”, the Diwan-e-Khas, or “Hall of Private Audience”, the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds ,Hence  the Amer Fort is also popularly known as the Amer Palace.

After Amer fort head to Jaigarh fort which are about 15 to 20 km apart. I suggest using  a assuring cab for this trip as its better to be on safe side. I personally suggest using gozo* , better pre-book the cab!

  1. Jaigarh Fort: This fort is rugged and similar in structural design to the Amber Fort which  is also known as Victory Fort. It has a length of 3 kilometers along the north–south direction and a width of 1 kilometer .The fort features a cannon named “Jaivana”, which was manufactured in the fort precincts and was then the world’s largest cannon on wheels. This fort houses an armory and a museum. Jaigarh Fort and Amber Fort are connected by subterranean passages and considered as one complex.

Day:2

After having your breakfast early in the morning book a cab in advance and use this full day to explore villages at the outskirts of the city. As the villages are outside of Jaipur, these trips are time consuming.

  1. Chokhi Dhani : This village is a beautifully landscaped area, spread over 10 acres, dotted with machaans & platforms where different folk artists perform consequently.  A village fair is hosted every evening displaying the rich & wonderful cultural heritage of Rajasthan. Buy some stuff from the national art and craft market and simply walk around the museum displaying Rajasthani village culture. Before heading back, get yourself clicked in the traditional look at their photo studio!

Day: 3 onwards….

jaipur3

You can visit the following after day 3.

4. Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal is made from ‘pink stone’, cascading over the streets of Jaipur, was originally built in 1799 as a vantage point for the ladies of the royal household. From behind the dark shadowed windows of Hawa Mahal, the women could observe the city below without being observed themselves.

Today, the structure still stands as proudly as ever. This royal structure shows off its rajputi styled architecture. There is a hawa mahal museum just ear the palace where one can get to know about its history. It displays relics, artifacts, statues, and other historical memorabilia that commemorate Rajasthan’s royal history.

5.City Palace

This is located near hawa mahal .This  includes Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal as well as a number of other structures. Built with highly trained artists, City Palace combines Rajput, Mogul and European styles and is another stunning example of Jaipur’s royal influences. Today, part of the City Palace is home to the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, which showcases historical relics and art from the city and the region.

6. Jantar Mantar

Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II not only envisioned and executed the highly organised city of Jaipur, he was also responsible for the development of five astronomical observatories throughout west central India. Jantar Mantar is one such observatory located in the heart of Jaipur.

The large-scale geometric formations are the stars of this historical structure, jutting out independently with staircases that lead to nowhere and in what would appear to be a random manner. The observatory is a wonder to architects and artists alike, and today, it is presented to audiences as an all-encompassing experience, complete with time-lapse sequences, drawings and 3D models to showcase this historical site.
