Famous for its hilly terrains and paddy fields, the Ziro valley is where the ZFM marks its territory every year on the autumn season (in between September – October). One of the oldest and pretty developed towns of the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Ziro has been all blanketed by the majestic mountain ranges of Himalaya and its other neighboring hill chains. Inhabited by the local Apatani tribe, these people are one of the best hospitable folks and extremely environment friendly. But one should not be mistaken with the simplicity of the people living here. The literacy rate here (66 %) is even higher than India’s literacy rate of 60%.

The season here is too cozy and quintessential, which gets better and better. And when it rains you are sure to experience short bursts of rainfalls, making it a candid moment of your life.

Getting to Ziro is quite comfortable nowadays with the modes of transport getting refurnished to the better days.

By Air: Guwahati is the nearest airport, connecting all the rest of India with regular flights.

By Road: By road, the private buses available from Guwahati (460 Kms), Itanagar (110 Kms) and Tezpur (279Kms).

Accommodations at ZFM are often made at camps and tents. If you are avid traveler, pack up your equipment and bring along your own tent and enjoy the stay. Apart from these campsite accommodations near the festival venue, other local homestays and lodges are widely available. The stay here serves you with immersive experiences by interacting with the other groups who have checked in for the cultural exchange.
